A Destination You Truly Cannot Miss

With culture, history and a country full of cherry blossom trees, Japan is a destination you truly cannot miss.
Sitting at an Okonomiyaki restaurant in Kyoto eating a savoury pancake, we met an interesting local who we bonded with using only a translation app. The locals seemed to make friends with us everywhere we travelled, even if we couldn’t understand one another. Japan really exceeded my expectations and is a beautiful destination you must add to your bucket list. Being the host of the Escorted Escapes Japan Cherry Blossom tour, I got to experience something unique with an amazing group of unforgettable people. Many of us travelled from Queensland and started our adventure in the vibrant and thrilling city of Tokyo.
Magnificent Cherry Blossoms
We walked among the lively cherry blossom trees that stretched for a kilometre in Ueno park, Tokyo. Tourists travel from all over the world to catch a glimpse of these wonders while they appear for a short time, it truly is the best time to be in Japan. Grab a picnic basket and take in these breathtaking views of the gardens and parks under the magnificent cherry blossoms. Taste the popular Matcha green tea or enjoy the finest sweet teas in a traditional tea house. Keep your eye out for the beautiful views of Mount Fuji across the city or when you arrive in Hakone, sail on board a pirate boat which takes you to the shores of the volcanic lake.
Highlights of Japan
Experience a night out in Kyoto by visiting a traditional dance performance Miyako Odori and keep your eye out for the Geishas in the audience. Enjoy a walk through the Gion district of the night time, a famous Geisha district in Tokyo, that boasts old buildings, romantic bridges and more landscapes of cherry blossoms. For a unique dining experience, try one of Japans traditional sashimi dishes or for something different, an okonomiyaki (a savoury pancake).
Travel by bullet train to Hiroshima and if you’re a history lover, visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum that shows the history from the World War II attacks. If you’re more into adventure, journey off to Hatsukaichi and spend the day at Miyajima Island with the animals and visit its unmissable historic landmark, the floating shrine.
